Zeit!Raum is for people! The Zeit!Raum 'Social-Profit'-Organisation was founded in 1995 Since more than 20 years Zeit!Raum aims to create high quality `Time‘ and `Space‘ for people. Zeit!Raum's sociocultural projects and activities help to empower and socially orientate (socially and economically) disadvantaged people. Zeit!Raum creates space (room) for communication, counselling, health-care, sports, art and culture, leisure-time, education, and remembrance in both the public and the private spheres. Zeit!Raum always works with the priority of investing in people. Zeit!Raum values social networks and wants to strengthen them, for a good network promotes well- being, participation and social justice..

Principles and Approach Basic principles of Zeit!Raum are: Solidarity, justice, tolerance and democracy Our working method is socio-cultural: sociocultural means a generation-spanning and cross-, trans-, cultural approach, that invites everyone to participate Zeit!Raum offers a platform for communication and mediation Zeit!Raum aims at conflict prevention and conflict reduction Zeit!Raum wants to generate “social capital”: The Zeit!Raum projects enable, and at the same time give value to social networks

Target Groups/ Children- and Youth Work Children and youths aged 5-25 years, who live in the district, and spend their free-time in the parks Children and youths living at the council-housings close by Children from migrant families, 2 nd, 3 rd generation from the former migrant workers (Turkey, BKS, Egypt) „New migrants“ (China, India, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Russia, Chechnya, Nigeria, South America)

All-year, indoor-care, and outdoor-care, for free: Offers for recreational activities in public areas (parks) „Parkbetreuung“ Encouraged by article 31 of the children's rights convention: “All children have a right to relax and play, and to join in a wide range of activities” –since 20 years,- a unique concept in Europe –instead of prohibiting, “Parkbetreuung” offers games contact and a communication platform, for children and close residents –Parkbetreuung strengthens the relationships and communities on site, –the leisure time activities lead to well-being, mutual understanding (culture & generation) and minimize conflicts and risks –Vandalism declined One Project example: Children and Youth Work

Working Methods “Our society (Vienna), will face a lot of demographic change: 'ageing population’, 46% may be migrants from abroad in the near future. More different people on less (public) place.” Our approach to react to this development: Multi-professional, multi-lingual teams, work with elder volunteers enabling integrative intercultural exchange, Opening dialogue between generations, make use of gender-sensitive places, Offer “recreation” to build community Foster participation
