LCLS-II Optics Release: 26FEB16

What’s new in this release? new cathode-to-L0 (“GUNB”) layout ˃input Twiss from Feng Zhou’s 100 pC beam updated cryomodule layouts ˃internal dimensions are now all “cold” ˃fixed support post locations now included (“CSPnn”) ˃longer 3.9 GHz cryomodules (~40 cm each), each with cold BPM ˃removed HOM absorbers at end of each linac (L0,L1,L2,L3) sextupoles included for 2nd-order dispersion correction ˃4 pairs (8 total), FFTB 1.38S3.00 style, presently deferred (level 1) ˃see Paul Emma’s presentation kickers and septa redefined as DRIFTs where they don’t deflect beam new BSY AREA names (from Rick Iverson and OPS) reassigned “ownership” of some areas for Oracle upload downstream systems … see Yuri Nosochkov’s presentation (March 2)

! ============================================================================== ! Deferred devices ! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ! see: https://slacspace.slac.stanford.edu/sites/lcls/lcls-2/ap/InjSim/ ! 150129%20Deferment%20Levels.xlsx ! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ! Device TYPE attributes have been prefixed by a 2-character deferment ! indicator. If the first character of a device's TYPE attribute is not "@" (or ! if a device has no defined TYPE attribute), the device is baseline. If the ! first character of a device's TYPE attribute is "@", the device is deferred. ! The level of deferral is indicated by the second character of the TYPE ! attribute: ! ! TYPE="@0..." : level 0 (required for CD4-Threshold with >100 pC/bunch and ! 50 kHz operation) ! TYPE="@1..." : level 1 (required to approach CD4-Objective, but limited to ! ~100 pC/bunch) ! TYPE="@2..." : level 2 (required to meet science objectives across parameter ! range) ! TYPE="@3..." : level 3 (component to improve tuning time) ! TYPE="@4..." : level 4 (space for future components that may be needed) ! TYPE="@5..." : level 5 (probably not needed... leave space in beamline for ! future installation) ! ! The remaining characters of TYPE define the device's engineering type. ! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Issue devices in CLTH and BSYA areas are new or changed for LCLS-II, but are not part of the project … how to indicate this in Oracle? ˃new defined Deferment level = -1 for “off project” devices? ˃new defined Deferment level = 9 for “off project” devices?

Other Issues precise definition and location of end caps and feed caps ˃dimensions with respect to fixed support post ˃cryomodule flange faces? beam pipe flange faces? integrate BSY beamlines (= AREAs) into MAD decks ˃“external” definitions mean that beamlines are defined in two places the latest release/upload had to be re-done twice, due to mistakes and unanticipated consequences … more automated testing required

Documentation out for review/approval being written
