OTHER TIPS SMILE Warm welcome and greet Offer day care Do survey what time works better Do personal calls to parents who have already attended other workshops Raffle Giveaways Provide snacks/food Lots of visuals and simple to understand Involve parents – ask questions Don’t rush, be flexible and have plan B Stay positive thru the event Make them feel welcome and part of the meeting Events are an opportunity for us to honor the culture and language. The elementary program uses age-appropriate books. Parents learn to read with their children, pose questions and teach school readiness skills to their children. Learn how to make reading fun. Books related to their culture.
