In other words…. An understanding of the behaviour of an individual. Challenging behaviour and positive behaviour support A person may behave in challenging ways for many reasons, and they must be understood if a suitable alternative is to be found. Understanding the factors that contribute to this behaviour will enable you to provide good support to that individual, and this is where positive behaviour support (PBS) helps. ‘ BILD

BILD Stage 1 - A scientific analysis of behaviour Stage 2 – Intervention Primary strategy – everything that is put in place that reduces the likelihood of the behaviour happening Secondary strategy – planning for what happens when the behaviour starts to escalate Reactive strategy – planned robust strategies to use as a last resort
