Staff Hiring 2005 to present Operator Training - Process Major Processes BNR, Composting 2007 thru 2010 Operator Training - Equipment Introduction to Equipment – 2008 thru 2010 Training during construction – 2008 thru 2010 Training with partial flow through plant - 2009 Training with full flow and automated processes - 2010 Operations Training and Start-up
7
Stage 1 Ensure Manufacturers are communicating to Contractor – Forms 100 & 101 Stage 2 Ensure Installation of Equipment is Correct – Form 102 Up to “bump rotation of equipment” Operations staff receive initial Equipment Training programs Stage 3 Wet testing of Equipment – Form 103 Testing to ensure the equipment performs according to spec in water Operations staff receive Equipment Training programs from Manufacturers Construction Contract Commissioning Phases (Normally)
8
Stage 4 14 day Performance Testing to ensure the fully automated process performs according to design Operations staff running unit processes under direction from Engineering Team Stage 5 Operations staff running entire facility with “assistance” from Engineering Team Long Term Optimization begins Construction Contract Commissioning Phases (Normally)
9
Reality in Fort McMurray Winter approaching in late 2009 Facility not ready for introduction of flow and operation with all equipment complete and computer system in “auto” Decision made to allow partial flow and run liquid train only in “manual”, covering floor slabs and saving the cost of another winter of tarping and heating all outdoor floor slabs. Stage 3a Running the plant with partial flow 3 – 10 ML/d through the winter Control systems in “manual” with the exception of Raw Sewage Pumping in auto with “callout alarms”. Operations staff implement daily checks with assistance of Engineering group to ensure the processes are moving water and collecting sludges in Gravity Thickener.
