Sue Webb webbsuza2@msu.edu AIM: webbsuza Session 5 www.msu.edu/~webbsuza/WRA202.html

Today in Class…  P1 revision trends  Miller & Schryer: what are genres?  Social action  Responses to recurring situations  “stable for now”  P2 introduction For Next Time: 1. Read Rife article 2. Complete revisions to P1 letter & get everything ready to submit

Things to Include (that some forgot) More explicit forecast of participant’s role in the meeting Space for time/date/location Contact info for responding + asking questions Notable Strengths Descriptions of PW in letters to policymakers were very good overall

Areas to work on Value proposition for PW participants – what’s in it for them? Better incorporation of research/data – a few people have done a very good job of this! Key is to let the nuggets of info do the work of claiming as well as supporting. Keeping same level of formality all the way through…usually a function of sentence complexity

Areas to work on Make sure “the ask” comes early and is crystal clear Getting me drafts for review…I had only 18 of 22
