So Small Music by Steven Tyler, Joe Perry, and Jim Vallance Words by me
2
So small, but we know they’re in there! You might wonder, “Why should we care?” Here’s why: atoms make up everything that we are! They are constantly in motion They make up the air and ocean In fact, everything in heaven and on earth we see.
3
Vibrating in a solid Slip-sliding in a liquid Colliding in the gas phase Just bouncing disconnected.
4
They have a slight attraction In their potential interaction, But they’re pushy if you close in. You’ll never catch them dozin’.
5
It’s all about what they do. Their properties define you: Heat is when they’re jumping, Pressure’s when they’re bumping, Always doing something, They’re colliding so elastically!
6
So small, but we know they’re in there! You might wonder, “Why should we care?” Here’s why: atoms make up everything around us! They are constantly in motion They make up the air and ocean In fact, everything around us that we hope to see.
7
Yes, they’re moving, yes, they’re moving! So tiny that we don’t see. We know them from their properties. Yes, they’re moving, yes, they’re moving! Atoms are so busy! Man, I would get dizzy! Buzzin’ and a-whizzin’, Always moving so perpetually!
8
Though small, their collaboration Merits deep investigation You are one elaboration of what they do! Their small size should not confound you They’re in everything around you That’s right, liquids, gases, solids — liquids, gases, solids — liquids, gases, solids, Even you and me. (Hoo-hoo!)
9
Yes, they’re moving, yes, they’re moving! So tiny that we don’t see. There’s nothing else inside me. Yes, they’re moving, they’re really moving! Friction’s when they’re sliding, drag’s when they’re colliding Atoms are providing what’s residing inside you and me!
10
So small: what I have inside me Mince me, chop me and divide me You’ll find nothing’s there but tiny little atoms. Though small, their communications Lead to massive complications It’s their endless combinations that make up our world.
11
So small, but we know they’re in there! You might wonder, “Why should we care?” Because atoms make up everything that we are! They are constantly in motion They make up the air and ocean In fact, everything in heaven and on earth we see.
