18 Foreign Aid Facts The U.S. spends about $12 billion per year on foreign aid. There are 156 countries that receive foreign aid from the U.S. The large recipients are Israel, which gets some $3 billion per year, and Egypt, which gets some $2 billion per year. These two countries alone make up some 40 percent of the entire foreign aid budget. Military and security assistance accounts for about 25 percent of all aid, humanitarian and disaster relief assistance about 15 percent, and economic and development assistance about 60 percent. 1% of Budget
