Percentages 2 I spend 35% of £600. How much money have I got left? 1 Answer Question 2 Find 10% first! 10% of 600 = 60 So.. 5% of 600 = 30 And.. 35% of 600 = 210 3 x 10% + 5% = 35% Finally..600 – 210 = £390

2 Percentages 2 There were 250 pupils in Year 10. 120 of these were girls. What is this as a percentage Answer Question 3 Now multiply by 100 to change it into percentage 0.48 x 100 = 48% 120 250 = 0.48

In the MIF kitchen sale each kitchen is reduced by 20%. I paid £1200 for my kitchen units. What was their price before the sale? 3 Percentages 2 Answer Question 4 These are tricky questions! £1200 represents 80% (100 – 20) of the original price £1200 ÷ 80 = £15 (1%) £15 x 100 = £1500 (100%) £1500

What was the price before the sale? 4 Percentages 2 WOW TV/DVD Player 30% off New Price £126 Answer Start Do the same as question 3. £180 £126 represents 70% (100 – 30) of the original price £126 ÷ 70 = £1.80 (1%) £1.80 x 100 = £180 (100%)
