3 CDC Goals and Deliverables
CDC Goal: Develop overall concept and structure for AS16 REVIEW LESSONS LEARNED FROM PREVIOUS EXERCISE. DEVELOP EXERCISE CONCEPT . DEVELOP PARTICIPANT FORCE LIST. DEVELOP EXERCISE AND TRAINING OBJECTIVES. CONFIRM EXERCISE PLANNING CONFERENCE DATES AND MILESTONES. DRAFT EVENT DESIGN AND SCENARIO. IDENTIFY EVENT SUPPORT LOGISTICS AND FACILITIES. UNCLASSIFIED

4 CDC Review Exercise will consist of a multinational brigade level CPX, and a multinational battalion level combined arms FTX. The focus for AS16 will be on the combined arms FTX. Began the development of the exercise table of organization and participation. Confirmed the exercise planning conference dates and the execution dates. Discussed the possibility of utilizing the Orpolo Training Area for exercise execution, and initially scheduled a site survey to Orpolo at the end of Sept. Requested that JCATS be utilized as the simulations platform for the CPX. Met with contractors from Simulation Center and discussed support for the exercise) Should be able to utilize existing Georgian scenario map, with scenario and Road to War from AS15, still to be approved by EUCOM. Should be able to support with a mobile package if exercise is conducted at Orpolo Discussed the integration of SOF into the exercise (GEO SOF, ROU SOF, and US ODA) UNCLASSIFIED

5 CDC Review (cont) Initial discussions with JTEC representatives on potential support, such as instrumentation. Range maps delivered through CD and (Maj Wethe). Will request additional imagery through US Intel sources. Site Survey of Range 11 (VTA). Joint Multinational Simulation Center, has availability to possibly support exercise. Will have to be requested by EUCOM. Received approval to utilize Orpolo Training Area and Base. Began discussion on airspace coordination Potential to utilize U.S. SOF UH-60s (5 – combat helicopter assault squadron for air assault and airborne ops, 2 - medical). Possibility to jump from Romanian aircraft A-10s and other potential fixed winged CAS from USAFE. UNCLASSIFIED

7 EUCOM Goals, Guidance and Objectives
EUCOM Goals (5-year plan): Conduct a progressive series of exercises with Georgia, regional partner nations, U.S. and Allied partners in order to enhance NATO interoperability, regional security, and continued support for contingency operations. End state: The GAF and other regional partners are able to plan, deploy, employ, sustain, and redeploy in support Peacekeeping/NATO Response Force (NRF) operations, and possess the capacity to respond to emerging crisis. EUCOM Guidance (Exercise Initiating Directive/ Pre-Joint Event Life Cycle Briefing): 1. Conduct AS16 as a Brigade level Command Post Exercise (CPX). 2. Exercise and assess capability to conduct NRF PKO/PSO resulting from a regional, transnational crisis. 3. Broaden both the scope and participants of AGILE SPIRIT, an increased regional exercise. EUCOM Exercise Objectives. Exercise and assess interoperability in support of NATO regional security and global missions and operations. Exercise and assess the capabilities of designated force contributions to the NRF. UNCLASSIFIED

8 MARFOREUR MISSION STATEMENT
MARFOREUR will conduct exercise AS16, 1-13 Sep 2016, in the Republic of Georgia, with U.S., GAF, and regional partners and Allies in order to exercise interoperability and capacity to conduct Brigade level staff planning and execution in support of NATO Response Force (NRF) operations or response to regional crises. Batumi: Is there a husbanding agent at the port facilities to assist in the establishment of RSO&I? Rail: Need to confirm rail connectivity and process from port to training area Wrecker capabilities/assets from the point of debarkation to embarkation Are there any ammo or hazmat restrictions/limitations at the port or highways? Will escorts be needed? Route survey for U.S. tank movement around Vaziani Air support capabilities Can translators be sourced the same as AS15, but well in advance.
