Phonics and SATs Y1, Y2 & Y6 - Statutory!

Phonics will be tested during one week in June in Year 1 Re-tests for Y2 will happen in the same week. Children are given 40 words 32 out of 40 is a pass Scores reported to parents in July. Phonics

SATs at End of Year 2 & Year 6 2015 Levels are reported to parents with report in July Levels are submitted to Local Authority for: Speaking & Listening KS1 Reading Writing Maths Science English grammar, spelling and punctuation Help by keeping things normal at home, no undue pressure please!

SATs at End of Year 2 National Curriculum levels are based on: Official SATs papers for reading (comprehension) and maths Writing from many pieces of work Teacher assessment. Every 3 years assessment moderator visits.

How it is managed with your child – Y2. Children will do the test in their own classroom Formal reading and maths papers – break half way No set time limit Papers are available in National Curriculum level 2 and level 3 Marked internally, following mark scheme Writing assessment is on-going throughout the year Children must not have seen the papers beforehand.

SATs at End of Year 6 National Curriculum levels are based on: Official unseen SATs papers for reading (comprehension) timed test Maths – 2 timed papers and timed mental maths from a CD Writing from many pieces of work over the year – externally moderated English grammar, punctuation and spelling test Most will sit Level 6 papers

How it is managed with your child – Y6. Children will do the reading and maths tests in the hall or for some in their own classroom Test are completed following a set timetable – same test, same time across the country Papers are in sealed packages and opened in the hall Clock and warning about timings throughout Papers are available in National Curriculum level 3 to 5 and level 6 Marked externally Writing assessment is on-going throughout the year.

Assessment in Years 1 to 6 Assessment is based on children being able to access the taught curriculum: Children able to access the curriculum assessed as on-track Children able to apply their knowledge across the curriculum are assessed as working towards mastery or mastery Children needing additional support to access the curriculum are assessed as working towards or below/SEN
