2 Objective of ECA To help create positive conditions for learning by Providing a comprehensive range of extra curricular activities FREE OF CHARGE that will appeal to all students

7 Objective 3 of ECA Providing Extra curricular activities that promote progress DJ sessions: “..it has helped me in my music lesson, by me knowing what beats and bars are and how many beats are in a bar. It has helped me know a structure of a song and what pitch and beats per minute is. It has taught me what a cue is. I think it will help me with my NC level in the future.” (See page 9 of Inside Out)

8 Objective 4 When hiring facilities out choose community organisations that extend extra curricular opportunities further and meet the needs of our students and their community ( see pages 18 and 19 of Inside Out)

11 Where next for the CTC? Expand hiring of extra curricular provision: DJ, Archery, Bush craft etc. Junior Masterchef to maximise impact and help sustainability Quality assurance through on line registers and Children’s University

20 CASE STUDIES  Year 9 boy:  In specific subjects (Geography, Citizenship, Art, Religious Education and Science) I met my end of year target within the first two terms of school. I definitely believe I would not be able to do this without the help of trampolining.  I am now confident in myself and feel constantly supported by others – and in return support them – and I now have the determination to achieve my goals in everything I do

21 CASE STUDIES Year 9 Boy PARENTAL FEEDBACK  Parents are not fully aware of the safety of their child, however if the clubs are at their school, parents will be much more lenient in allowing their child to participate  On behalf of all the students and parents of CTC, please keep these amazing opportunities available for all students.  2 LEVELS OF PROGRESS IN ENGLISH, MATHS AND SCIENCE

22 CASE STUDIES  Year 8 Boy  Attending these clubs have given me more confidence and the Aikido and Boxing have given me self-defence skills and made me more fit and disciplined  When I started at CTC I did not have many friends as soon as I started attending the clubs I made a lot of friends in different year groups as well as communicating with the teachers at the clubs

23 CASE STUDIES Year 8 Boy– PARENTAL FEEDBACK  Ibrahim like every child has his off days when attending school, he enjoys his academic studies however it is the extra school activities that motivate him through his school day. I feel these school clubs have had a positive impact on him and his progression.  I am doubtful if there was a cost to these clubs if I would be in a position for Ibrahim to continue  AHEAD OF EoY TARGETS BY SPRING TERM 1

24 CASE STUDIES  Year 10 Boy  I also have developed better social skills through a variety of team activities; they also help me concentrate after our lunch breaks as I am doing something engaging  3 LEVELS OF PROGRESS: ENGLISH, MATHS AND SCIENCE

25 CASE STUDIES Year 9 Boy Was awarded Young Sports Person of the Year for the Solihull Borough “I am able to speak to others appropriately and treat my peers and teachers with respect. The enrichments have also ensured I can take these social skills outside of school into my social life and I have made new friends outside of school that I also go to school with”  Ahead of target in all subjects

26 CASE STUDIES Year 7 Girl Learning Zone; Reading support Parental feedback “Despite other things going on she has chosen to do this every Monday. She is thinking of doing it another night. I have noticed a massive improvement since junior school and she is grasping things a lot better. Some nights now she pops in our local library now too”  Exceeding targets in all subjects

27 CASE STUDIES Year 10 BoyAttendance 2010/2011: 86%2011/2012: 99% Behaviour Head of Inclusion and Progress has identified the huge improvement by awarding him the ‘Attitude Towards Work’ award for the year group for the effort he has put in outside of curriculum hours

28 CASE STUDIES Year 10 Boy “I like to go to ECA once I have been to my catch up classes and it is a chance to take part in sport with my little brother”  4 LEVELS OF PROGRESS IN ENGLISH, 3 IN MATHS AND SCIENCE

29 CASE STUDIES  Year 9 Boy  Box Clever programme to improve confidence; he now attends Basketball, Dodge ball and Youth Club  He is enjoying it so much he has taken boxing up on further evenings outside of college (with Wayne Elcock, I believe), and his parents are very happy with the impact this has had on himto give him further interests and confidence
