LIBRARY AUTOMATION USING RFID LIBRARY AUTOMATION USING RFID Presented by; Joju Mohan -67 Ninitha Xavier -68 Priyanka C.P -69 Rahul K.Raj -70
2
About RFID system Brief History What is RFID system Key Components Standards Implementation Benefits conclusion.
3
Brief History.Basic concept behind RFID is same as “Mirror-Sunlight-Reflection theory ”.Invented and used from (Early 1940’s).Commercial Operation begun from 1960’s ….In 1970s developers, inventors, companies, academic institution and government sectors were actively worked on RFID
4
Project Overview… Basic system components RFID Tags Gates Reader Middleware Tag
5
Main parts Gate Detection System ISO-15693 gate detection system capable of detecting unauthorized tagged items passing through it.
6
HF Reader reads data using antenna RFID Tags passive HF Tags working on 13.56 MHz frequency. Available in various types and form factors these are used for tagging library materials to uniquely identify particular tagged items using the RFID based automated library management system.

TAG-TYPES FOR LIBRARY ITEMS 6/14/2016RapidRadio Solutions Pvt. Ltd.8
9
Tag Specifications Type:Contact less Read/Write Operating frequency:13.56 MHz (HF- high frequency) Capacity:512 bit up to 10Kbits Common Usage:Ticketing,Library Management Standard deployment:Electronic label application Tested read range:Maximum 10cm read & write 5cm detection Multi-detection:yes Maximum read quantity: 30 labels/sec Size:82mm x 49mm Color:white Weight :0.5g
10
READER 6/14/2016 A device that is used to read a Tag. Basic components are A scanning Antenna A transceiver with a decoder
11
INVENTORY READER A compact and light weight hand held device Comfortable to use High storage capacity Multi Functional (such as sorting, searching and reading) Enhanced Security.
12
SECURITY GATE Verify that all books leaving the library have been checked out. Detect Theft Prevent unauthorized removal of material
13
WHY RFID FOR LIBRARY? Fastest, easiest, most efficient way to track, locate & manage library materials Efficient Book circulation management Library inventory tracking in minutes instead of hours Multiple books can be read simultaneously Unique ID of the RFID tag prevents counterfeiting
14
Frequency: 13.56 MHZ Key feature of 13.56Mhz is Tags are less expensive due to their limited coil required. Read range about 1-2feet. Some tags are anti collision collects, uses, stores and broadcast data
15
How does RFID works
16
RFID Benefits Libraries… Stock management Improved services Flexibility Security Less time needed
17
SO FAR We identified RFID reader FEIG LONG RANGE READER, LRM2000A LRM2000B Collected RFID gate making documents
