Page 6 Environmental dimension in the planning and design phase Participatory Development Programme in Urban Areas Linking the concept and idea of the project to the nature of the land and its environmental problems: Example: The area of Shubra Al Khaimah has been identified with solid waste problems (environmental). Proposed development project should aim to overcome the high levels of unemployment by creating green jobs in the fields of recycling, waste disposal Example: By using the environmental lens, projects can move past simply allocating green corners in schools and start implementing drip irrigation systems to save water and producing organic fertilizer by recycling organic waste in schools.
