5 -ss, -sh, -ch, -x and -o -es in the third person singular. ex. I finish – He finishes I go – He goes a consonant + y in the third person singular. ex. I study – She studies (BUT: I play – He plays, I say – He says) take Drops the -y -es - ies

6 The Simple Present: Negative a) I We You do not drink coffee. They b) She He does not drink_ coffee. It NEGATIVE: I We + do not + main verb You They He She + does not + main verb It Do and does are called “helping verbs” c) I don`t drink tea. They don`t have a car. d) He doesn`t drink tea. Mary doesn`t have a car. Notice in b): In 3 rd person singular, there is no –s on the main verb; the final –s is part of does. Contractions: do not = don`t does not = doesn`t

7 We form the 3 rd person singular with does + personal pronoun + main verb. We form all the others persons in the interrogative with do + personal pronoun + main verb
