1
Science Fair Project Type your project title here Your name Your teacher’s name Your school
2
Testable Question Type your question here. (Describe a problem or question to be tested by a scientific investigation experiment This is the question that your experiment answers.)
3
Hypothesis Outline and explain a testable hypothesis using correct scientific reasoning Based on the research you have done, you will be writing an answer or solution – your best educated guess – to your question. Make sure you write down your hypothesis before you begin your experiment.
4
Project Overview Type a brief overview or summary of your project here.
5
Research Summarize your research here in three to five bullet points: 1 st bullet point 2 nd bullet point 3 rd bullet point 4 th bullet point 5 th bullet point
6
Variables Describe how to manipulate the variables, and describe how sufficient, relevant data will be collected Controlled variables: These are the things that are kept the same throughout your experiments. Independent variable: The one variable that you purposely change and test. Dependent variable: The measure of change observed because of the independent variable. It is important to decide how you are going to measure the change.
7
Materials Type a detailed list of the items you needed to complete your experiments. Be specific about the amounts used.
8
Procedure Design a logical, complete and safe method in which he or she selects appropriate materials and equipment. List all of the steps used in completing your experiment. Remember to number your steps. Add photos of your experiments.
9
Data/Observations Correctly collect, organize, transform and present data in numerical and/or visual forms It is easier to understand the data if it is put into a table and graph. Create a graph in Microsoft Excel and import it here. Make sure all data is clearly labeled. Add pictures Data Analysis Insert your data analysis section here. If your data analysis is really long, you should consider putting a shorter version on your display. Remember to delete these instructions.
10
Data Analysis Accurately interpret data and describe results using correct scientific reasoning Insert your data analysis section here. If your data analysis is really long, you should consider putting a shorter version here. Remember to delete these instructions.
11
Conclusion Type a brief summary here of what you discovered based on the results of your experiments. You need to indicate whether or not the data supports the hypothesis and explain why or why not. Discuss the validity of a hypothesis based on the outcome of a scientific investigation Discuss the validity of the method based on the outcome of a scientific investigation
12
Improvements Describe improvements or extensions to the method that would benefit the scientific investigation..
13
Works Cited Be sure to include print and electronic sources and put them in alphabetical order.
