Structures – bones made of living cells, protein fibers and calcium.

Functions: 1. Supports the body 2. Protects internal organs 3. Allows movement 4. Stores minerals 5. Makes blood cells

Structure – 3 types of muscle tissue: 1. Skeletal muscle – attached to bone 2. Smooth muscle – not under voluntary control (lining of stomach, blood vessels)

3. Cardiac muscle – makes up the heart. Function – to provide forces for movement - muscles attached to bones by tendons - muscle contractions move bones (uses ATP for energy )

Arthritis – inflammation of joints Muscular Dystrophy - inherited disorder causing weakening and wasting away of muscles.
