90963 ANATOMY AND BIOMECHANICS
2
LEARNING INTENTION Students will understand what this assessment is about and what is expected of them in the assessment Students will be able to describe a range of movements at major joints in the body and list the agonist and antagonist muscles in each
3
DO NOW: KEY WORDS… ANSWER THE QUESTIONS Joints – what are the major joints in the body that are common in a range of sporting movements? Muscles – which are the major muscles that move these joints? Bones – what are the major bones involved in these movements at the joints above? Agonist – what does this mean? Antagonist – what is this? Flexion/extension – describe these movements Abduction/adduction – describe these movements Plantar flexion/dorsiflexion – describe these movements

THE TASK… For the 5 credits available in this standard, you have to produce a PowerPoint presentation demonstrating your knowledge of basic functional anatomy, biomechanics and exercise physiology in relation to the three phases of a sporting movement of your choice. Exemplar: tennis serve C:\Users\millerk\Desktop\2012\Level 1 PE\Term 2\1.2\Exemplar PPT tennis serve analysis.pptx C:\Users\millerk\Desktop\2012\Level 1 PE\Term 2\1.2\Exemplar PPT tennis serve analysis.pptx

CRITERIA Demonstrate understanding of the function of the body as it relates to the performance of physical activity. AchievementAchievement with MeritAchievement with Excellence Demonstrate understanding of the function of the body as it relates to the performance of physical activity. Demonstrate in-depth understanding of the function of the body as it relates to the performance of physical activity. Demonstrate comprehensive understanding of the function of the body as it relates to the performance of physical activity.

WHAT TO DO TO GET EACH GRADE Achieved - Demonstrate understanding of the function of the body as it relates to the performance of physical activity Give details of characteristics including anatomy, biomechanics and exercise physiology Merit – Demonstrate in-depth understanding of the function of the body as it relates to the performance of physical activity Explain how and why the function of the body is related to the performance of your physical activity Excellence - Demonstrate comprehensive understanding of the function of the body as it relates to the performance of physical activity Involves depth/breadth of knowledge including: The relationship between anatomical structure and the performance of a physical activity The use of biomechanical principles to explain the performance of a physical activity The relationship of physiological responses to the intensity of a physical activity

INTERACTIVE WEBSITE Check out this interactive website. Click on the skeletal and muscular systems. Click on different muscles to get information about them in the box at the top right of the screen. Think about how you use these different muscles in your own sporting movements. https://www.biodigitalhuman.com/home/ https://www.biodigitalhuman.com/home/ Click ‘Free!
