2 Aim of the training To provide an overview of the Act To pave the way for the implementation of the Act To provide a foundation for more in-depth and specialist training, as necessary Learning outcomes By the end of the workshops, participants will: Know about the history and development of the Act Be aware of the Parts and features of the Act Appreciate key differences in the future emphasis of care and support Be able to deliver basic awareness raising sessions

5 Development of the Awareness Raising Programme

6 Context The Social Services and Well-being (Wales) Act forms the basis for a new statutory framework for social care in Wales The Act received Royal Assent and became law on 1 May 2014 The Act will be implemented in April 2016

7 Introduction These initial training resources are the first in a suite of learning materials to support the effective implementation of the Social Services and Well-being (Wales) Act The final versions of these resources to be produced by the Care Council for Wales will be released and available to access on the Information and Learning Hub The learning materials are based on tried and tested resources already in use within Blaenau Gwent and Caerphilly

8 The resources are designed to support the facilitator to deliver a range of short, introductory workshops The resources also allow the facilitator to extend or tailor their delivery method to the needs of specific audiences The facilitator will need a basic understanding of the principles and timelines of the Act and facilitation skills to manage the discussions of the specific groups In groups – discuss what you think are the key themes of the Act
