Bitstrip Jaeann Tschiffely Jaeann Tschiffel Bitstrip is an application that allows the user to create comic strips. You can create characters and background and put in dialogue bubbles. http://www.bitstrips.com/create/comic/ Blooms Taxonomy: Students can use this to create a graphic novel version of a book they have read. To do this they will have to summarize the novel and select the critical parts of the novel to include in their graphic version.

Bitstrip Jaeann Tschiffely I have done this assignment with students using paper and pencil in the past and I am very excited to use a web 2.0 tool as I always limited this type of response to one per year because of the time involved in creating the artwork. This app could help make this a more regular option as a response to a novel. Here is a scan of a page from a student created book and a link to a copy I made of some of the panels using bitstrip. http://bitstrips.com/r/4XT09

Edmodo Mareen Mathew (slide1) Edmodo provides a safe and easy way for our class to connect and collaborate, share content, and access homework, and school notices. Main features : Engage students, Connect to resources, Measure student progress. http://www.edmodo.com/home It bests supports applying, analysing & evaluating levels of blooms taxonomy. Standards for Mathematical Practice this addresses is Grade 3 Number system. It supports learning as a resource & assessment tool. On Edmodo, teachers are at the center of a powerful network that connects them to students, administrators and parents, They can continue classroom discussions online, give polls to check for student understanding, and award badges to individual students based on performance or behaviour. Edmodo makes it simple to track student progress. Teachers can get the pulse of their classrooms through student reactions to quizzes, assignments, and discussion posts. Mareen Mathew (slide1)

I created an Edmodo account as Home school teacher(as I have not officially informed my students about this ) as a trial attempt. I have created a Group "ABC" with group code a1yhaj. I have posted an assignment for the group. The image below shows the tool. http://www.edmodo.com/home#/assignment?mid=132106199 http://www.edmodo.com/home#/ ( the links to sample product created) Mareen Mathew (slide2) Edmodo Mareen Mathew (slide2)

Memplai Memplai allows you to collaboratively upload images, video and audio files to the site, and then to edit these into a final video. Images and other media files can be imported directly from your computer or from other social network galleries. Once content is uploaded, you can use the drag and drop web-based video editor to assemble your video. This can be public or accessed only by link The beauty of this tool is that platform becomes irrelevant, and that you do not need expensive installations of video editing software www.memplai.com Andrew Nolan

Memplai Bloom's Taxonomy - Creation. Students can assimilate data from a number of sources, and collaboratively produce a movie. This is a great alternative to written work. As the tool is totally cloud based, you can create video, audio and image snippets in class or on a field trip and upload to the site. You can then edit the footage as a group to produce a report that can be easily shared with the world/or by a select group. The beauty of it is that it is totally flexible and students can customise and personalise the experience to suit them. In EAL/SEN settings, the video tool could be a valuable way of communicating understanding of a topic without having the barrier of language. 11 Prezi Prezi is an online presentation tool that uses zooming to focus and emphasize creating a visual stimulus for learning. It also allows a layout that links various ideas to each other (ex. mind-maps)

Prezi Prezi can be used as a simple presentation tool like PowerPoint. However, it can also be used in an interactive and collaborative way. o Bloom’s taxonomy - Creating: Create an account for the whole class then ask each student to do a part in the Prezi. o Bloom’s taxonomy - Evaluating: Have students evaluate each other’s work on Prezi, give each other suggestions and edit their work based on teacher and peer recommendations. o Bloom’s taxonomy - Analyzing: Require students to watch a Prezi ends with analysis questions and comment with their answers.
