1. 20 years in Hong Kong!

2.  Nehemiah 8: “all the people came together as one in the square…Ezra the priest brought the Law before the assembly, which was made up of men and women and all who were able to understand. He read it aloud from daybreak till noon as he faced the square before the Water Gate…”  Luke 24:27 “Then beginning with Moses and with all the prophets, He explained to them the things concerning Himself in all the Scriptures”

3.  With the 20 th anniversary of ICC upon us it might be good to spend a moment to remember where we cam from…to help us understand where we are going.

4.  Hong Kong was a much different place in 1995

5.  Population in 1995 was 6. 3 million  Population in 2015 is over 7.1 million

8.  Windows ‘95 was the biggest computer event of the year

9.  In this Hong Kong a handful of folk began meeting in and praying for Lan Kwai Fong

10.  Born out of a small home fellowship from New Covenant Church in Clearwater Bay  Felt a “call” to HK Island

11.  The group in Lan Kwai Fong felt they wanted to help a fellowship that would start in Club ‘97… …that never materialized but planted the seed of us launching ICC

12.  We were sent out to launch Island City Church…but at first it wasn’t ICC… …It was “The Studio”

13.  The Studio was launched at the Fringe Club in Oct 1995

14.  We chose to advertise in HK magazine instead of the SCMP…which led to a couple big articles

15.  A few months later we changed into Island City Church and began meeting on Sunday mornings  Why do we meet at 11:00 AM?

16.  We met in a number of places the first couple years including Glenealy Middle School, City Hall, and even the streets of LKF.

17.  It was in these early days that a guy named Tung joined us…

18.  Also about this time this “stranger” named Gerry joined in the ICC family

19.  We spent a lot of those early days in Lan Kwai Fong praying, volunteering, and being part of the community

20.  ICC grew and soon we were able to move to bigger space on the 8 th floor

21.  At the end of 1999 we left Hong Kong to church plant in the U.S.

22.  …and 20 years later the story continues…

23.  Dear Island City Church Friends,   Has it really been 20 years? Twenty years since a handful of folks got together and launched a new church in the heart of Central Hong Kong?   Yep, it has!   And for nearly 20 years the ICC sanctuary has been a blessing not only to our own church but made available for ministry activities such as CBC Bible School, Bread & Wine, and other gatherings from neighbouring churches.   So as Island City Church prepares to celebrate this special anniversary we realise that it might also be great time to put a little shine back in our meeting space on Jubilee St.   It's been more than a decade since the last renovation and in that time the natural wear and tear has slowly taken its toll. The carpet is worn and stained, the paint is chipped, and the window shades are showing their age.

24.  That's where you come in!   If you are receiving this letter it's because you are either fellowshipping at Island City Church now, have journeyed with ICC in the past, or have been a friend of ICC and its vision to bring the Life of Christ to Hong Kong and beyond.   We need your help!  The 20 th anniversary renovation fundraising goal is set to:  replace the carpeting in the sanctuary area  have a new paint job (including patching and stripping the wall)  freshen up the broken bathroom tiles  install a small kitchen area  give the entry foyer a facelift with some faux brick wall tiles  add some wooden blinds to the windows
