2 Eucharist: Roots in Scripture Old Testament: The priest Melchizedek offered God bread and wine. Gn 14:18 God provided Manna for the Israelites in the desert. Ex. 16: 4-35 Jews celebrated Passover to commemorate the Exodus from slavery. Ex. 12: 1-20

3 New Testament: Jesus multiplies the loaves and fishes At the wedding at Cana Jesus changes water into wine. Jesus made reference to the Eucharist when he told of the importance of eating His body and blood. Jesus instituted the Eucharist at the Last Supper.
