2
Process by which molecules move from an area of high concentration to an area of low concentration. Move from crowded to non-crowded
3
The diffusion of water molecules across a selectively permeable membrane
5
Photosynthesis Photosynthesis- A process by which plants convert sunlight, water, and carbon dioxide into food energy (sugar), oxygen and water. Chloroplast Chloroplast- An elongated cell organelle containing chlorophyll where photosynthesis takes place. Chlorophyll Chlorophyll- A green molecule which uses light energy from sunlight to change water and carbon dioxide gas into sugar and oxygen
6
H 2 O + CO 2 + light O 2 + C 6 H 12 O 6 Water+ Carbon + sun Oxygen + glucose Dioxide(sugar)
7
Chlorophyll is the green pigment inside the chloroplasts of plant cells that makes leaves green!

Sugar + O 2 O2O2O2O2
12
Respiration Respiration- The process by which the chemical energy of "food" molecules is released and changed into ATP. Mitochondria Mitochondria- Rod-shaped organelles with a double membrane which converts the energy stored in glucose into ATP for the cell.
13
O 2 + C 6 H 12 O 6 H 2 0 + CO 2 + ATP Do you notice something about this equation? Oxygen + glucose water + carbon + energy (sugar)dioxide
14
Animals use: Sugar (from producers/plants) Oxygen (from producers/plants) Plants use: Carbon dioxide (from animals)

Photosynthesis Equation: light H 2 O + CO 2 + light O 2 + glucose Respiration Equation: ATP O 2 + glucose H 2 O + CO 2 + ATP They are opposites of each other!
