4. How Do I Fix Mistakes – Unit 4 Mistakes happen whether you are fluent in a language or not. An important part of using a language well is knowing how to correct your mistakes. ASL has several ways to help correct mistakes: The most common corrections are oops and wave-no. When you make a mistake, use either sign and continue signing. You don’t need to over- emphasize the signs or exaggerate facial expressions. The sign um shows one is thinking of what to say next.
