1 Dr. C. Barnabas, IIM, Trichy Be a Witness “ Let your light so shine before men” Matt 5:16

2 Dr. C. Barnabas, IIM, Trichy Teachings about Light 1.Jesus is light "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life." John 8:12 “God is light; in him there is no darkness at all” (John 1:5). 2. We are called to walk in the light We are called to walk in the light - “But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin” (1 John 1:7). 3. Walk as children of light “For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light (for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness and truth) and find out what pleases the Lord. Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them. For it is shameful even to mention what the disobedient do in secret. But everything exposed by the light becomes visible, for it is light that makes everything visible" (Eph 5:8-14).

3 Dr. C. Barnabas, IIM, Trichy Background of the Teaching You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven. Matt 5:14-16

4 Dr. C. Barnabas, IIM, Trichy Great Commission “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations” Matt. 28:19. “He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. Then the disciples went out and preached everywhere, and the Lord worked with them and confirmed his word by the signs that accompanied it” (Mark 16:15, 16, 20). “And repentance and forgiveness of sins will be preached in his name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. You are witnesses of these things. I am going to send you what my Father has promised; but stay in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high" (Luke 24:47-49) “Again Jesus said, "Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, I am sending you" (John 20:21).
