 Getting to school in Eluaai is a problem, as the nearest school is 8km away.  Many Masai children are not going to school until the age of ten or eleven if at all.  Many children are sent home from school for lack of books or uniforms.  Girls are further disadvantaged because they have to do chores.  If a girl has any brothers they get first priority.  If we build this school it will give Masai kids a head start in school. Plus, they will get to eat at school.

 Traveling to Africa, Ed volunteered with a renowned organization and NGO Nyumbani.  Despite the post-election violence in Kenya in 2007, he completed a number of educational, agricultural and building projects in a remote area of Kitui, Kenya, living and working among the Kamba tribe.  With no fresh water, plumbing or electricity, he assisted the Nyumbani organization, begun by the late Jesuit priest Fr. Angelo D’Agostino S.J.

 Parents reported that their children were not currently attending preschool due to their children’s age and the long distance to the nearest school.  All parents showed interest in the creation of a preschool close to their manyattas (homes). Most indicated a willingness to pay from 150-200 ksh per month in fees.  Survey of 51 kids showing preschool age students were not attending preschool  24 three year old  10 four year old  14 five year old  3 six year old

 The Ed Colina Foundation continued to meet with the elders.  They indicated the Foundation could use the current church as the temporary beginning of a school at the site.  They are so poor they can’t even pay for their own school.

There is only one problem. The project for Highlands Kenya needs money. It will take at least $2500. If you look to the right you will see materials needed and their costs. Where Your Money Will Go?

Where the Masai tribe lives

 So they need your help to go to school inside a real school instead if a church.  They need you to donate money so they can build a real school.  Also, donate money to help them get to eat food at school every day so they don’t starve.  Help him get an education.
