3 Introduction Paragraph Attention Getter 1-2 Sentences- does what it says...gets your audience interested in reading about the topic you chose

4 Intro Paragraph: Attention Getter Strategies 1.Explode the moment- Use some creativity here to illustrate the topic using sensory details 2.Personal Anecdote- Personal account of a personal experience in relation to your topic 3.Hypothetical Response- What would society be like without your topic 4.Necessity/Urgency- Write about why your topic is so valuable to society or to a specific field

5 Examples of Attention Getters for Harriet Tubman 1.Explode the moment- The slave escaping looked up into the sky searching for the north star. The north was freedom for slaves escaping the bitter realities of slavery in the south if only they could reach it. 2.Personal Anecdote- Harriet Tubaman’s hushed voice emerged through the shadows, “Keep on moving north. We are almost free.” Slaves who escaped to freedom with Harriet Tubman remember her bravery and courage.

Without Harriet Tubman as a role model for others, many abolitionists would have been too afraid to get involved.
