SPECIFIC OBJECTIVE “TO IMPROVE THE INVOLVEMENT OF THE PRIVATE SECTOR IN TECHNICAL AND VOCATIONAL TRAINING IN FATA AND KP BY PROMOTING DEMAND AND MAKING THE SUPPLY OF COURSES MORE DEMAND DRIVEN”

PROJECT OUTLINE Geographical Area – FATA & Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Duration – 04 Years Number of beneficiaries At least 12000 employable men & women Number of Trades – Atleast 8 demand driven trades Number of TVET institutes Upgraded – Atleast 4 Number of TVET institutes linked to private sector – Atleast 10 Number of private sector employer – Atleast 20

EXPECTED RESULTS 1.Establishment of a functioning provincial set up linked to the private sector that facilitates in demands and placement for technical trainings 2.At least 12000 employable women and men from FATA and KP trained in various technical skills and their post- training professional situation monitored 3.Critical assistance to enhance capacities of selected technical and vocational training institutes

PROGRAMME PARTICIPANTS DIRECT BENEFICIARIES – At least 12000 men & women Women – 10% of the total DB (To be trained in self- employable and formal market skills + awareness on importance of women participation in formal employment sector and their rights Youth (+15 years) and school drop-outs Men (15 – 35 Years) People with Disabilities (PWDs) to a lesser extent Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) to a lesser extent (UNHCR indicates the presence of 687,557 IDPs in FATA) Trainers Selected Societies as a whole

PARTNERS TUSDEC will be the facilitator and implement this programme through Facilitation Unit at Peshawar. PROGRAMME ACTIVITIES 1.Creation & Establishment of a Provincial Facilitation Unit Creation of Facilitation Unit (FU) preferably KPCCI Hiring of Project Management Team 2.Baseline Assessment Private Sector Assessment (identification of trades in demand, industry run TVET institutes, curricula requirements etc.) Identification and Quality Assessment of TVET institutes 3.Regular Facilitation Regular Monitoring & Evaluation (TVET institutes, trainings, graduates etc.) Tracer Studies of graduates Quarterly Coordination Meetings

PROGRAMME ACTIVITIES 4.Mobilization of Community Local CBOs & NGOs Private Sector Stakeholders 5.Delivery of Trainings to Trainees Pre-selected TVET institutes Duration: 1 – 6 months At least 8 trades Innovative training methodology be adopted on market demand (suite of basic life skills, vocational skills & business skills) MIS installation for professional traceability of graduates

PROGRAMME ACTIVITIES 6.Linking up the trainees with Private Sector for Employability Creation of Help desk/Hotline for placement opportunities Private Sector Stakeholders contacted Job Fairs Self employment through providing access to MFIs 7.Assistance to TVET institutes through linkages with NAVTTC, GIZ, technical boards, private sector training organizations Capacity Building of TVET institutes Standardization of Curricula Delivery of ToT programmes Upgradation of Lab/Workshops

METHODOLOGY From 13th till 48th month of the Project Monitoring & Evaluation Coordination Meeting (Quarterly) Linking up of graduates with private sector for paid/self employment Linkages of TVET institutes with NAVTTC, other private sector training organizations Upgradation of Lab/Workshops Community Mobilization Delivery of training

SUSTAINABILITY Institutional Sustainability Accreditation of Institutes Demand driven system will be ensured Ownership of TVET institutes by local authorities will be ensured through multi-stakeholder approach Policy-Level Sustainability Research findings will be shared with stakeholders for their feedback that will contribute towards policy planning at larger scale Involvement of opinion leaders in trade identifications will shape up the priorities of TVET system Development of Long term policy originating from grass root level Change the mind set of local communities and improve their access to TVET institutes through better policy measures

SUSTAINABILITY Financial Sustainability Quality improvement of TVET institutes ensures continuity of demand based TVET programmes Enhanced job prospects for the programme trained youth TVET institutes providing trainings as per the demand of employers ↓↑ Employers sponsoring future trainings Environmental Sustainability No harm to environment in general & in particular
