2014 Institutional Portraits

Institutional Leaders and their teams are asked to complete the Institutional Portrait for 2013-14 by June 30, 2014. This annual compilation of campus information aids in creating an overall picture of the CIRTL Network and will allow all of us to monitor progress across the network and learn from each other. We hope that in the future, much of this information will be collected throughout the year via the CIRTL Network Commons (IT system).

2014 Institutional Portrait Content Areas 1.Numbers of Associates, Practitioners & Scholars 2.Select details on all CIRTL programs 3.Additional details on 2-5 programs Description, outcomes design, evaluation questions & methods, instruments, evaluation highlights. 4.Local Benefits to students and institution 5.Products (for NSF annual report) – (publications, presentations, websites, chapters, videos, online modules, etc)

Key Questions

In the fields below, specify how many program participants as of June 2014 have fully met the learning outcomes for each of three CIRTL outcome levels? For this year, please only include data that you consider to be fairly accurate, otherwise leave the cells blank. We expect that this year it may be difficult to provide accurate numbers for participants who have achieved the Associate level.

Please provide the details requested for local programs that have been created or revised to reflect the CIRTL Learning Outcomes and incorporate at least 3 of the CIRTL Learning Outcomes. For example, you may have created a brand new program targeting the CIRTL Learning Outcomes or you may have expanded an existing program that is aligned with CIRTL to focus on STEM students. You will also be asked to answer additional evaluation-related questions concerning at least 2 of the programs identified here. You will have the opportunity to provide evaluation information for up to 5 programs.

Program Details Program names entered here, will appear throughout the form

Program Details Column 1: Identify the Program Type (1-6) - Please enter a 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 or 6 to indicate which of the program types listed below is closely aligned with your program. 1. Workshop /workshop series 2. Course 3. Seminar (cohort-based offering) 4. TAR internship or experience 5. Learning community 6. Other Column 2: Indicate the number of times the program was offered during the reporting period, Summer 2013 through Spring 2014. (e.g. 6 workshops in a series = 6, A course offered in the fall and spring = 2) Column 3: Total number of participants across all offerings. This may include counting the same person multiple times if he or she attended multiple workshops in a series. Column 4: Number of contact hours per offering (e.g a 1-hour workshop offered 8 times = 8 contact hours) Column 5: Was this a new program, a repeat of a 2012-13 program designed for CIRTL, or a program that pre-dated CIRTL and was revised to become a CIRTL program? Please enter "New," "Repeat," or "Revised. "

Program Details Program names entered here, will appear throughout the form

In the fields below, please provide a brief program description (about three sentences). As appropriate, you may be able to copy and paste from from your 2013 IP, your original local learning community plan, or your recently shared evaluation materials. Example: In this 10-week course College Classroom course students make observations of a class, draft a teaching statement and write and present a lesson plan as a microteaching experience. We pay particular attention to peer instruction with clickers so the participants become familiar with the research behind it, how to implement it and how to write conceptually challenging questions. We model how to teach at the same time as covering the content. Program Description

Program Description with pre-populated program titles Program names entered at the start, appear as prompts through out the form.

CIRTL Learning Outcomes For each program, indicate whether the program is designed for most participants to achieve the specific learning outcome.
