3 GTCW’s role – Induction and the MEP GTCW undertakes the following administrative tasks on behalf of the Welsh Government: Collect, collate and maintain details of teachers undertaking induction (including supply teachers), and if relevant the MEP Notify and inform all relevant parties via web access - NQTs and other parties involved in the induction process to regularly check and update their online record held at www.gtcw.org.uk Check eligibility to participate in programme(s)

4 GTCW’s role – Induction and the MEP Allocate an external mentor in line with WG matching criteria and implement a re-match when required Manage funding to schools for induction support and attendance at MEP learning events (years 2 & 3) on receipt of the required paperwork Collect and record induction results and issue certificates, if appropriate (induction results are submitted to GTCW by the LA as the Appropriate Body in induction) Hear induction appeals Other administrative tasks involving external mentors

5 Induction and the MEP To start an induction period you must hold QTS and be registered with the GTCW as per legal requirement Registration with GTCW – Registration Team Notifying GTCW regarding the commencement of your induction – Induction, MEP & EPD Funding Team

6 Induction and the MEP Paperwork to GTCW for Induction/the MEP Induction and MEP Notification Form to be sent to GTCW within 10 working days of commencement of a period of Induction Induction Funding Claim Form to be sent to GTCW at the end of each academic term of Induction All forms are available at www.gtcw.org.uk

8 Induction and the MEP GTCW checks eligibility including for the MEP and reply to NQT, SBM and HT Allocation of an External Mentor Appropriate Body and External Mentor can view Induction information via web MEP Only NQTs who opt in provided to Cardiff University and required to complete an application process by 20/10/2014 Ongoing checks on continued eligibility

9 Induction funding - key features Funding distributed to schools retrospectively, termly in payments of £700 (or a proportion of depending on the number of sessions completed) For NQTs undertaking induction - funding provided for 10% reduction in timetable (in addition to their PPA time) Funding released to school regardless of outcome of Induction term Method of payment of Induction funding to schools

10 Induction - key issues Paperwork not submitted by school on time Induction funding claim form not just used to release funding – record of sessions Unregistered teachers Keeping GTCW informed – changes to details provided on Induction and MEP Notification Form Teachers moving school – action by new school - EVIDENCE

11 Induction – short term supply Induction As A Short Term Supply Teacher Notification Form – 10 working days Short Term Supply Teachers to log sessions via web access – 15 working days Ensure that schools verify each period of teaching (section 4 Induction Profile) Complete an Induction Profile containing evidence of progress towards meeting the PTS 50 sessions – allocated an External Mentor

13 New online induction profile Available from mid-September 2014 NQTs, SBMs, EMs and Appropriate Body will access via online account (new level of access for school based mentors) All sections of the induction profile will be completed and stored online (including the external mentor record) Once available, no requirement to e-mail documents, instead documents must be completed and ‘signed off’ by relevant parties within the timeframes set out in WG guidance/handbooks
