Metric Units The metric system uses standard units for length,mass, and capacity. meter (m) - measures length and distance gram (g) – measures mass liter (L) – measures capacity, or volume

Metric Prefixes The metric system is easy to use because it is a base-ten system. This means that larger units are defined by multiplying by powers of 10. Smaller units are found by dividing by powers of 10.
