Video modeling interventions involve a child watching videotapes of positive examples of adults, peers, or him- or herself engaging in a behavior that is being taught” (Delano, 1997). Video modeling procedures have been used successfully to teach children with autism a variety of adaptive behaviors including social, play, requesting, self-care, purchasing, and academic skills” (Mirenda and Maione, 2006)

Adult models, peer models, video self-modeling, and point-of-view video models. Peer models are normally the same age and gender of the student. Video Self-modeling (VSM) refers to the observation of images of oneself engaged in adaptive behavior. Point-of-view video is the visual image that would be seen if the participant was engaged in the behavior including, Mixed model approaches may combine any of the above model types.
