CONCLUSIONS Sediment concentrations in the near-field region for the two cases were investigated using computational fluid dynamics methods. Additional knowledge of fluid dynamics allowed for the creation of a solution model for far-field sediment concentrations. The additional current flow resulted in a significant effect on the sediment concentration. The concentration was decreased in the discharge direction in the open water, as the sediment was carried downstream by the current flow. 14
