IEEE CPMT Board of Governors Meeting, 2/10/2001: CPMT Society Awards Marketing Communciations Committee Membership: Connie S. Swager, Chair Dave Palmer Ralph Russell Marsha Tickman Jan Vardaman Paul Wesling Mission: To enhance the leadership of CPMT in the global electronics packaging community with ‘state of the art’ marketing implementation plan. How do we differentiate CPMT from its competitors? How do we assure the constituents choose CPMT? This marketing implementation plan will: Lead to the successful marketing of CPMT’s programs and services. Shape a program that will enhance the Society’s “brand” – or image – throughout the universe of its potential members and customers.

IEEE CPMT Board of Governors Meeting, 2/10/2001: CPMT Society Summary of Committee’s Effort Defined Scope of Work for Marketing Communications Implementation Plan Solicited Potential Suppliers Received Several Names – Only two had either capability or capacity Submitted RFP’s Reviewed Proposals Interviewed Potomac Communications Group with add’l questions Made Recommendation to BOG Recommendation: We contract with Potomac Communications Group (PCG) to create the Marketing Implementation Plan. The three-step process to be used is: 1 Research 2 Meeting Facilitation 3. Deliverable – Marketing Implementation Plan

IEEE CPMT Board of Governors Meeting, 2/10/2001: CPMT Society Potomac Communications Group has several special strengths that make it an ideal partner to help CPMT conduct additional research and develop its important Marketing Implementation Plan: Experience with research-based marketing and communications plans, including: National Association of Computer Consultant Businesses Plurimi, Inc. (a San Francisco company developing software for the energy industry) National Wholesale Druggists Association (which PCG has guided in re-naming itself the Healthcare Management Distribution Association) American Society of Microbiology 2. Experience with facilitating leadership groups of organizations as a step toward a new strategic, marketing or communications plan, including: Navigant Consulting, Inc. (We checked a reference with Navigant and got good reviews.) Ohio Electric Utilities Institute Delaware Valley Society of Association Executives

Experience with helping associations and technical societies implement a wide range of marketing, membership and communications programs, including: National Fenestration Rating Council National Home Equity Mortgage Association American Water Works Association Nuclear Energy Institute Council of Scientific Society Presidents Association for Manufacturing Technology Cellular Telecommunications Industry Association 2. An appropriate size, location and culture for our program: Staff of 25, providing a wide range of communication and marketing capabilities The commitment of its senior management to deliver results and assure we will a top priority client. A location convenient to many of us who will be working with them. A track record of success, as measured by their long-term relationships with clients and their superior client list

MOTION To approve proposal to contract with Potomac Communications Group for development of CPMT Marketing Implementation Plan with commitment of $15K (budgeted in 2001) plus additional $10K.
