2 Pop Culture 2 Charles Lindbergh completed the first solo transatlantic flight in 1927, becoming a national hero. His flight from New York to Paris lasted 33 hours and 29 minutes.

3 During the 1920s the movie industry became the 4 th largest industry in America and Hollywood became the movie capital of the world.

4 American artists began breaking away from European traditions. George Gershwin, an American, was one of the most famous composers of the period.

5 Some of the famous writers of the 1920’s included Sinclair Lewis, F. Scott Fitzgerald, Ernest Hemingway and Edna St. Vincent Millay.
