3. Background cont.. Students have expectations going into their studies Student satisfaction is measured based on academic expectations and experiences What would happen if non academic expectations and experiences were factored into the satisfaction equation

Methodology The goal is to investigate the impact of non- academic experiences on student satisfaction Deliberate selection of negative experiences to gauge the level of influence on satisfaction Selection of three established survey methods: 1.SERVQUAL 2.UCLA Loneliness Scale Questionnaire 3.Perceived Discrimination Survey

5. Methodology cont.. Literature review indicated that these were the most common experiences that international students face Targeted, anonymous questionnaire of 50 international students

6. Current Observations Still in the survey stage Survey is slow, due to the sensitivity of the topic and the awkwardness of the surveyor Currently, there are more respondents who are having positive experiences than negative experiences. This is possibly due to the UK’s welcoming environment

7. Limitations Limitations identified so far: The study is not as deep as it should be The non-academic experiences are biased towards negativity Home students who have moved away from home for school are ignored
