The 2 Basic Types of Nouns Common Nouns….. – name general people, places, things or ideas. –are not specific and can refer to any number of people, places, things or ideas Example: dog, teacher, town, cheese

The 2 Basic Types of Nouns Continued Proper Nouns…. – name SPECIFIC people, places, things and ideas. –are ALWAYS capitalized Example: Shamrock, Mrs. Rames, Maple Park, Velveeta

Nouns and Number Singular Nouns… –Refer to one person, place, thing or idea Ex. Dog, cat, Frank -Usually, singular nouns do not have an “s” at the end, unless it is part of the word. Ex. brontosaurus, thesaurus, Mrs. Rames
