3 Practice: Common vs. Proper Nouns Classify the following nouns as either common or proper. If proper, name a corresponding common noun. If common, give an example of a corresponding proper noun. Ex: Yucaipa High: proper; school Ex: motorcycle: common; Harley Davidson 1. man 2. month 3. Vietnam 4. singer 5. Athena 6. city 7. gumbo

5 Practice: Concrete vs. Abstract Nouns Identify the following as either concrete or abstract. Then, choose one concrete noun and one abstract noun and explain why it is concrete/abstract. Ex: book: common; Book is a concrete noun because it can be touched or perceived by the senses. 1. cloud 2. Buddhism 3. Freedom 4. Sarah 5. thunder 6. beauty 7. yogurt
