What is MOODLE ? MOODLE (abbreviation for Modular Object-Oriented Dynamic Learning Environment) is a free and open- source e-Learning software platform, also known as a Course Management System, Learning Management System, or Virtual Learning Environment (VLE).

Minimum server requirments Hardware 160Mb of free space 256Mb (1Gb recommended) for ~50 simultaneous users * You will need extra space for the external files (courses, diagrams, homeworks, etc) Software Apache (IIS) PHP (4.3.0 or later) MySQL * It can be installed also on a local server pack as XAMPP, WAMP, easyPHP

Basic installation steps 1. Unpack the MOODLE scripts into a subfolder of the root directory from the web server (wwwroot or htdocs) 2. Create a new MySQL data base 3. Run the install.php file in a browser 4. Follow all the steps mentioned in the installer After the installation you have to configure the core settings of the platform (like the name, the admin user and password, etc)

User’s role Administrator can usually do anything on the site, in all courses. Course creator can create new courses and teach in them. Teacher can do anything within a course, including changing the activities and grading students. Non-editing teacher can teach in courses and grade students, but may not alter activities. Studentgenerally have fewer privileges within a course. Guest have minimal privileges and usually can not enter text anywhere.
