Pluses Installation of software is straightforward on both PC and Mac and most students had little difficulty using the system to record a 2-5 minute screencast Faculty laptops could be borrowed Upload to Panopto course dropbox area is secure Minuses Panopto does not automatically synchronise for students joining late Default file name for uploads is just the date and time 11

Complex set–up, then easy to use BUT be prepared for failures Popular with students BUT only when embedded as part of the teaching and learning strategy OR to record student presentations OR for student assessment Students do watch the recordings BUT who else will? There are worries about managerialisation 14
