REPORT A report may be defined as a formal statement describing a state of affairs or what has happened. It contains a detailed description of a problem or a situation. It generally includes conclusions and suggestions for future course of action.

Informal report: A informal report is usually in the form of person-to-person communication. It is usually written in the form of a letter. It is also called as short reports. It is a document that contains about two to five pages of text.

Purpose of Informal reports:
To use memo format. To brief, side-stepping detailed documentation. To assume the target reader already.

Guidelines for Writing Informal Reports
Define the project. Write a statement of purpose. This mostly one line sentense that describes the readers about what the report is about.

Conclusion Informal reports are used to convey the casual information in the work place i.e., they will provide routine information to a “regular” reader. It helps in transferring knowledge from a person who knows it to a person who needs to know it. Thus the informal reports play a major role in the transfer of information between the employees in the work place about progress of their work etc…
