11 6/18/2016FREE STATE EMS 2010 PLAN Forensic Pathology Services Forensic Pathology Unit / vehicles to be deployed at the CHA. In the process of upgrading all Mortuary Back up holding areas in Welkom, Smithfield etc. Looking into refrigerated truck for bodies All deaths will be investigated by SAPS.

12 6/18/2016FREE STATE EMS 2010 PLAN Central Holding Area and Disaster Staging area Emergency vehicles will be at the Disaster Area. All other vehicles will be stationed at the Central Holding Area. Vehicles will be deployed on the instruction of the JOC

13 6/18/2016FREE STATE EMS 2010 PLAN Health Promotion for Disasters Books, pamphlets etc to be used. Raise awareness of health issues. Smoking etc. Condom Distribution, hot spots, toilets etc. Radio talk shows(FSDoH).

Training of the hawkers and caterers for compliance with food handling techniques. Improved sanitation system Strengthening Capacity for EHP’s in terms of numbers. Well Prepared outbreak response teams. (CDC) Waste management (proper collection, storage, disposal and recycling), through the use of the local business.

15 6/18/2016FREE STATE EMS 2010 PLAN Port Health Border posts : Lesotho border and Bloemfontein Airport. Investigation of cross border movement of people, food, goods etc. SOP’s on cross border issues is being investigated. NDoH looking into a Port Health Plan and Regulations. Yellow fever certificates will be inspection on entry. Border Control Operations Co-ordinating Committee (BCOCC), DoH is a member.

16 6/18/2016FREE STATE EMS 2010 PLAN Helicopter Landing Zone Aero-medical services on alert with capability of an advanced life support.. In the event of an emergency the helicopter would land anywhere.

17 Equipment Re-Supply Fully stocked trailers will be available during a disaster at the Central Holding Area Extra equipment will be necessary to deal with major incidents. This equipment is required for triage, first aid, advanced life support and packaging for transport. 19 6/18/2016FREE STATE EMS 2010 PLAN Disaster Preparedness In the event of a disaster all available resources will immediately be deployed The Joint Operations Centre to provide further instructions. SANDF to be informed. Private EMS services to be on standby. District Disaster Management standby Dispatch of ambulances from the neighboring Districts immediately.

20 Emergency Information Management It defined as the collection, consolidation, analysis and dissemination of the information Real-time data management: Regarding incidents, severity of patients and workload for hospitals and emergency medical services. Live footage will also be broadcasted to the Provincial JOC via a webcam. Media officer’s of SAPS, Military and Health will coordinate the debriefings. 6/18/2016FREE STATE EMS 2010 PLAN
