SUSTCULT Heritage Sites The project gathers 7 heritage sites (4 of which are included in the Unesco World Heritage List) dislocated in South East Europe: Italy, Slovenia, Greece, Romania, Albania, FYROM. These sites are engaged in Management Planning as well as in promoting their heritage and generate new jobs through a participatory approach able to guarantee a shared and effective sustainable management process. SUSTCULT Stakeholders Main stakeholders: decision makers, civil servants, non-profit organisations, tourist operators, financial actors, institutional subjects, heritage managers. They are involved in the development of the Web-GIS platform, in the elaboration of the Management Plans and Business Plans for specific resources, as well as in Capacity Building activities.

SUSTCULT Methodology It is a supporting tool for managing authorities to develop and draft Management Plans to balance the protection and sustainable use of cultural heritage sites. It offers a step-by-step approach to collect/produce information, implement process and apply tools.

Web-GIS Platform The Web GIS Platform is aimed at sharing data and know-how among stakeholders and at supporting management planning by providing geo-referenced information and additional descriptions of heritage features www.sustcult.eu

Capacity Building 1 on-line multidisciplinary course (Jan-June 2012): It included 4 Units and a Project work. Unit 1.Cultural/natural heritage and economic development, Unit 2. Unesco/European/SEE framework on Culture and WH sites. Unit 3. Integrated Management Planning, Unit 4.Marketing and sustainable tourism 6 on-site intensive courses: held in partners’ sites and aimed at providing support in loco for further elaboration and implementation of management plans by applying the “Methodology for the Integrated Sustainable Management of Cultural. - to enhance effective capacity for integrated planning and management of cultural and natural heritage sites; - to encourage new attitudes and approaches to effective long-term sustainable management of heritage. Management Plans A Management Plan is an integrated plan that is developed to support decision-making and interventions on a heritage site. Within the project 7 Management Plans are produced by applying the defined common Methodology. The MPs will not be stand-alone documents but rather dynamic instruments that will define: Protection and enhacement objectives Action Plans Projects to be implemented Costs estimates Monitoring indicators

Business Plans All 7 SUSTCULT sites will carry out Market Analysis and Business Plans in order to explore possible strategy to attract resources and generate sustainable income. Business Plans analyse potential opportunities for economic development of cultural heritage.
