LS EXPERTISE Engineering Standards Design Center (ESDC)
ESDC provides engineering operational and technical support to field operations, producing technical clearance for local procurement authorities, technical assessments, designs for specific Mission projects, including frequent on-site assistance (TDYs).
ESDC develops and maintains standardized designs, scales, and templates for complex engineering works carried out in the field operations. ESDC work closely with UN-Procurement Division for Engineering System Contract Management.

Provide field Missions with the capacity to rapidly build up field facilities by using a range of individual basic modules that can be configured for different deployments.
Three main components to modularization:
Design – each module is designed by experts, including engineers, architects, transportation specialists, security and safety experts.
Modules – materials and equipment which together form a functional capability for a field camp. 
Enabling capacity – the labour and expertise which is deployed to build/install the module.
Modularization is designed to be scalable and flexible to meet changing requirements throughout the lifespan of a Mission.

Composition: specific engineering items, supply items, transport items, CITS items & medical items, often combinations.
Items physically located in Brindisi warehouses (SDS and UN Reserve ), other Missions, vendor managed stock, and global systems contracts.
Some items need to be purchased locally by the Mission, e.g., cement and cement products, gravel.
The aim is RAPID DEPLOYMENT of the module or camp.

One of several variants with, prefabs, containerized accommodation or tentage for any combination of occupants. This drawing contains living accommodations using modified containers in three clusters. It also suggest alternative energy harvesting using a park of vertical wind-mills and the utilization of rooftop-space of PV panels. In suitable conditions the 250m x 250m are could provide all the water and energy needs of its inhabitants (including atmospheric water harvesting, recycle organic waste and maybe in the coming years develop to a fully self-sustaining biotope)
