Education/Training Takes approximately 4-5 years to receive this degree Receive a Bachelor’s in Elementary Education and English & a K-8 Teaching License Degree recommended from the University of Minnesota Need to student teach/job shadow for approximately two years Once you receive your license you need to renew it every 5 years To move up—get your Master’s Degree and/or administration license

Career of Choice/Job Description Some Important Career Details: Typical school day hours 7:30-3:30 Create lesson plans and teach subjects to children—organized & creative Help children who have problems both academically and socially— good listener & empathetic Keep records of student attendance and grades—motivated Write reports about how students are doing and meet with parents— good communication skills Typical dress: semi-formal (khakis, dress shirt, etc.), sometime more/less formal, no uniform typically required

If you are having an off day it rubs off on your students. However, I love my job and I have fun coming to work each day.
