“Purpose, Pride and Progress” Purpose The Glassboro Intermediate School SGA is the main forum for discussing student concerns and ideas. In addition, council members are responsible for representing and serving the needs of the school and community. Pride The program focuses heavily on building Bulldog Pride and works with Renaissance to promote a safe and fun atmosphere. Progress Ways in which SGA builds pride: Spirit Days African American Assembly Participation in NJ Ask Pep Rally Grade Challenges – PB & J Wars, Penny Wars, Pasta with the Principal Challenge Battle of the Boards Drop Everything and Read (April 12 th ) – Library Awareness/Book Donations Team Building Trip

If you want to be one of the key leaders for your class and run for one of four (4) officer positions you will need to give a speech in front of the class. If you would like to be a part of SGA in a supportive role then you should pick up papers to be a senator. Forms can be picked up outside room 305. Deadline to submit forms is Friday, September 20 th.

Hold and maintain a minimum GPA of 75. Hold and maintain a clear disciplinary record.

President: The President is responsible for planning and running all Executive SGA meetings. They will work closely with Mrs. Stowman to develop an agenda for the meeting to make sure that all necessary topics will be discussed. The President is also responsible for making sure that all other officers are fulfilling their responsibilities. Vice President: The Vice President’s primary responsibility will be to take care of all issues dealing with attendance and discipline. The VP will be responsible for taking attendance at all Executive SGA meetings/class events and work with the advisor to write out infractions for any students that are negligent in their responsibilities.

Secretary-Treasurer: (Combined Position) The Secretary-Treasurer is responsible for accurately recording all finances and meeting minutes. In addition, they will be responsible for keeping a binder detailing all on goings of the SGA and helping set-up fundraising events. Commissioner of Public Relations: The Commissioner of Public Relations is the communication director for Student Government. They are the primary person responsible for making sure that the school is well informed of what is happening in SGA.

Senator: The Senate is comprised of four (4) senators (two from each grade level). Senators serve as the voice of the Student Body. They make formal recommendations on behalf of the Student Body regarding issues and policies. Senators do not need to submit a speech.

Being an SGA Officer is an honor and a responsibility. It demands a lot of hard work, time, commitment, and cooperation. The student body is relying on you to successfully fulfill the demands of your office. Please consider these factors BEFORE you decide to run for office.
