Paying for Care During Eligibility Determination 13 Weeks of Care After Loss of Qualifying Activities

Child care providers may be paid for care they provide while a family’s eligibility for PFCC is being determined. The provider will not be eligible for payment if the applicant is denied because: Applicant did not submit complete a complete application The child is not age eligible for PFCC The provider does not have a provider agreement for PFCC The applicant had a denied application with payment in the previous 12 months. Provider may appeal a denial due to incomplete application.

The denied caretaker will not be assigned a copayment. Provider will be notified that the applicant was denied and if the care provided is eligible for payment.

Caretaker can receive up to 13 weeks of continued PFCC benefits after loss of qualifying activity. Calculation of 13 weeks begins with the date the qualifying activity ends, regardless of when county agency is notified. The continuation period cannot go beyond the end of the current eligibility period. Caretaker can only receive on continuation in a 12 month period. Caretaker needs to notify county agency when he/she has new qualifying activity.
