3. Why did the Nazis organise boycotts of Jewish businesses? The Nazi government supported and encouraged street violence against the Jews On 1 April 1933 the Nazis organised a nationwide BOYCOTT of Jewish businesses, claiming that it was an act of revenge against critics of the Nazi regime Stormtroopers barred the entrances to shop and the Star of David was daubed on shop windows.

4. How did Hitler take away the rights of Jews? Over the next ten years, Hitler introduced many laws which gradually took away from the Jews of Germany their rights as German citizens. In the early 1990s two German artists wanted to remind people of how German Jews had been treated in the 1930s and 1940s. They lived in an area of Berlin where many Jews had lived. All around the area they put up 80 metal sign attached to lamp posts. On one side of each sign was a simple drawing of an everyday object.
