1 Volunteer Notetakers How-To Volunteer

2 Thank you for volunteering to provide note taking assistance! As a volunteer notetaker, you are helping ensure equal access for students with disabilities, making it possible for them to participate fully in their education. To be an effective notetaker, you will be expected to provide consistent, timely notes. The following tutorial will give you all of the information you need to sign up as a notetaker, and how to upload notes. If you meet the expectations of providing timely, consistent notes, we will be honored to give you a token of our appreciation. Thank you again!

3 Go to the Disability Center’s webpage; www.disabilitycenter.missouri.edu www.disabilitycenter.missouri.edu Click on the “NoteTaker Sign-In” button.

4 Log into the system… You will log in using your Mizzou PawPrint and password.

5 After logging in, click on “Sign-Up as a NoteTaker”

6 Enter in your Mizzou email address… Be sure to enter your Mizzou email address. Once you enter it in, click “Continue to Step 2”.

7 Fill out the information on Step 2 accurately and click “Register as a Notetaker”.

8 Enter in the Course Registration Numbers (CRN) for each course that you will be taking notes for. You can find the CRN by logging into your myZou account and looking at your class schedule. It will be a 5-digit number. Once you have entered in the courses click “Continue to Verify Your Classes” Entering Course Registration Numbers for Classes…

9 Your Course Registration Number (CRN) is the Class Number for your courses. It is a 5-digit number and can be found on your schedule in myZou. For example: 53807 is the CRN for CL_HUM 2200 – Roman Culture. You can also enter in the class number if the CRN does not show up when you search for it. It is usually a 4-digit number. For example: 2200 is the class number for CL_HUM 2200 – Roman Culture. CRN Class Number

10 Sign the NoteTaker Agreement… You must read the policies and procedures in the Notetaker Agreement before signing it. When finished reading the agreement, type in your name at the bottom. Be sure to type it as it is shown below the “Full Name” box. Click “Submit Your Notetaker Contract”.

11 Once you have been matched to a class where notes are needed, the status will show as “Assigned”. Now you are ready to start uploading your notes!

12 Uploading notes to the portal… Select the class for which you are uploading the notes. You can choose which week they are for by clicking the down arrow on the “Notes for:” section. You can also choose what day of the week by clicking the box next to the days listed. Click “Choose File” and find the notes that you want to upload then click “Upload Notes”.

13 Any files that you have uploaded will show up at the bottom of the uploads screen. The students who need the notes will receive an email informing them that there are notes uploaded and they can then access them and save them or print them off on their own. View all notes that you have uploaded…

14 Token of Appreciation… At the end of the semester, we ask the students who had volunteer notetakers to complete an evaluation. If the students provide positive feedback then we will contact you and offer a Token of Appreciation.
