4  Physiology changes  Flexibility decreases  Strength increase then decreases  O2 capacity decreases  Skill level/experience increases  Recovery time increases  Health problems increase  Gymnasts peak in mid- teens!

9  What age divisions do you know?  Athletics…  Why are age divisions necessary?  Are there any sports which don’t require age divisions?

10  Describe two effects aging has on the body. (2 marks)  Explain why a 40 year old is likely to find gymnastics difficult. (2 marks)  Use an example to show why it is necessary to have age divisions in some sports. (3 marks)

11 Homework  Research the different age divisions in the following sports: Swimming (why?) Rugby (why?) Athletics (why?) Print off or write out your findings
